Plasma Skin Tightening

What is Plasma Skin Tightening and how does it help with aging?

Plasma Skin Tightening aka Fibroblasting is considered to be a minimally invasive procedure with little to no risk and is much more affordable then surgery. Um, who’s with me & more importantly, where do I sign up?

Plasma Skin Tightening is known to be successful in non-surgical eye lifts, wrinkle reduction, tummy tightening, and to treat excess skin on the face, neck and any other place you can find loose skin on your body.

Some patients only require one treatment while others may require follow up procedures.

Results may last up to two years, but just like anything else that’s used to treat aging, the procedure can be re-done annually. Results are usually seen immediately after your first session with a healing time of 7-10 days, however full results are more noticeable in 8 weeks after your skin under the epidermis has healed.

Much like Permanent Makeup results, your skin needs time to heal. Read on to see if this procedure is right for you…

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Plasma Skin Tightening is fairly new to the beauty industry here in the U.S. but has been popular for many years in Europe.

During a Plasma Skin Tightening treatment, plasma is created by electricity generated by an extremely accurate hand-held FDA approved device that ionizes with oxygen and nitrogen in the air to create an electrical arc. Think of this electrical arc as being like a lightning bolt. When this lightning bolt hits the skin, it vaporizes liquid in the skin at the point of contact. The area around that point of contact tightens and shrinks. This is how Plasma Skin Tightening works to lift the skin. It also removes damaged epidermal cells and stimulates the fibroblasts in your skin to produce new collagen.

WHAT AREA’S CAN BE TREATED?

Plasma Skin Tightening can be used to treat a number of areas such as:

   -Upper and lower eyelids.

-Nasolabial folds, aka laugh lines around the mouth area.

   -Crows feet.

   -Forehead lines.

   -Frown lines, aka the 11's.

   -Upper and lower lips.

-Loose skin on the abdomen caused by pregnancy or weight loss.

   -Jowls and Neck Tightening.

-Excess skin on the knee caps.

HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?

Plasma Skin Tightening is considered more then a skin tightening treatment, while the skins volume is actually reduced, depending on the area, results can last up to two years.  Similar to surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of Plasma Skin Tightening are not entirely permanent and unfortunately, does not stop any further aging, bummer! However, positive results do have lasting results depending on the areas treated.  Results from treatment will be noticeable immediately after your first treatment, but the final results will be revealed after 8 weeks. Depending on the treatment and area(s) being treated an additional treatment may be required but only after 8 weeks to see full results. No more then four treatments are required within a year.  In addition to long lasting results, our lifestyle plays a big part that can prevent our results from lasting, such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and increased sun exposure, etc… WEAR YOUR SPF!!!

HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?

It will vary as each individual is different. Some things that are taken into consideration are age of client, your skins elasticity, how your skin responds to the procedure, as well as the desired correction to the area. Most clients will instantly see results and will continue to do so over the course of 8  weeks. Further treatments can possibly be done to get better results.

SIDE EFFECTS & RISKS

Plasma Skin Tightening has been proven to be safe due to it being non-invasive only when done by a certified technician. The majority of clients are likely to experience some minor side effects in the 7-10 days following treatment.

There will be tiny carbon crusts similar to little polkadots on and around the treated area that will generally last 7-10 days before naturally lifting and falling off, this will then reveal new pink skin underneath. Swelling is common when treating the eye area and is to be expected for a few days following especially when treating the upper eyelid. To avoid any serious side effects such as hyperpigmentation, it is crucial to follow the aftercare recommendations given to you by your technician.

●   Plasma Skin Tightening is not advised for those with very dark skin. This is because there is a higher risk of hyperpigmentation                      (dark spots) or hypopigmentation (light spots) following treatment.

DAY OF TREATMENT

Please come to your appointment with freshly cleansed skin, that’s it! You may take an anti-histamine 1 hour prior to your appointment. This can help with swelling. You can continue to take an anti-histamines for 2-3 days following your appointment. Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to your appointment.

A numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for 60 minutes to help with any discomfort. Once the treatment area is numb, your Plasma S
kin Tightening session will begin. You may feel some heat in the treatment area, which may be uncomfortable and slightly irritating. Treatment time can take anywhere from 10-60 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Immediately after treatment the treated area may be red and mildly swollen with small carbon crusts (polka dots).  It is common to experience a feeling similar to a sun burn which will likely last a few hours.  Swelling may increase over the following few hours after treatment and may continue to do so when treating the eye area and may last 2-3 days thereafter. The carbon crusts will lift and fall off within 7-10 days depending on the individual and area treated. Results gradually improve over the course of the following 8 weeks.

Following your treatment you will be given thorough aftercare instructions to ensure that you see the best results. It is important to follow these instructions. In the week following treatment (or until the treatment area has fully healed) an exfoliating wash or cleanser should not be used and avoid rubbing the area. All aftercare and instructions will be provided to you on the day of treatment.
